SHEA BUTTER

The Shea Nut tree grows in hot climates, like Africa and the butter is sold all over the world, in bulk and in small convenient containers. It has the consistency of coconut butter; a soft solid at room temp and a liquid oil when warmed even slightly.
Our family uses shea butter for everything from dry, chapped skin to sores, infections, abrasions, burns and bug bites & stings, fungal rashes and diaper rash.
It moisturizes & protects, heals rashes, sores, scratches, burns and allergic skin reactions. Shea butter never ceases to amaze us - it usually clears up a nasty diaper rash in 24 hours.
For babies, we used it as a bottom cream to prevent rashes and also to treat an outbreak of diaper rash or prickly heat. It is great as an all over massage cream to keep babies skin from getting dry & scaly.

Corn starch is a great natural treatment for prickly heat & diaper rash because it just absorbs moisture right away from tender skin. It is available in the grocery store in bulk or in smallish boxes in the baking section. I use organic corn starch to make sure of purity of product. Some baby care companies make a corn starch based baby powder with no perfumes, but there is no need to pay the extra money if expenses are tight. Just plain old cornstarch works great.
